Upcoming Vacancy: Caretaker & Assistant

Caretaker / Centre Assistant

Hours: 21 hours per week
Salary: National Living Wage

12 months fixed contract
(to be reviewed dependent on funding)

Mon 5pm–9pm / Tues 5pm–9.30pm / Wed 5pm–9pm / Thurs 9am–10.30am & 5pm–9pm / Fri 6pm–9pm

(Some flexibility in hours may be required, including some weekend work when required)

Role Responsibility
We are looking for a responsible, committed and skilled person to join our staff team in the New Year. We will require a part-time Caretaker / Centre Assistant from February 2018 onwards to support in the smooth running of the community centre.

The main responsibility of the role will be to maintain a secure on-site presence, mainly working Monday to Friday between the evening hours of 5.00pm – 9.30pm, with occasional Saturdays as and when required. The suitable candidate will possess good DIY skills, have knowledge of Health and Safety guidelines, good customer service skills as basic cafe duties will be required, and a willingness to learn new things.

The successful candidate must hold a full valid driving licence and have use of their own vehicle. Travel expenses will be paid.

The Ideal Candidate will also:
• Have a strong community spirit
• Work well as part of a team
• Possess an understanding and appreciation of volunteering
• Be friendly and have a positive ‘can-do’ attitude
• Have self-motivation and be able to work on own initiative
• Have a full clean driving licence (essential)

Job vacancy: Part Time Cafe Assistant

Community Cafe Assistant

16 hours per week
£7.50 per hour
6 months fixed contract
(to be reviewed dependent on funding)

Mon 10am – 1pm / Tues 10am – 1.30pm / Wed 10am – 1pm / Thurs 10am – 2.30pm / Fri 11am – 1pm

(Some flexibility in hours may be required)

Role Responsibility
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic person with a ‘can-do’ attitude. The main objective of this position is to work co-operatively with all staff and volunteers to ensure that the community café can continue to provide quality food, drinks, snacks and excellent customer service throughout the week.

The role will also include: some shopping duties, helping the Centre Manager with cash and carry runs, and in the delivery of a weekly Luncheon Club.

10th Anniversary Timeline

Crownway Community Centre in Earlestown celebrated its 10th Year Anniversary in October 2015 by unveiling a historical timeline stretching back to 1871. Originally a project of the Earlestown Baptist Church on Crown Street, the community centre has gone from strength to strength since it officially opened in October 2005.
